The Interceptor is an autonomous system for collecting plastic pollution from rivers before it reaches the sea. Boyan Slat launched this brand new device of The Ocean Cleanup on October 26th at Broekman Distriport in Rotterdam for a public of 1000 guests.
The Interceptor is The Ocean Cleanup’s answer for river plastic waste. It is the first scalable solution to prevent plastic from entering the world’s oceans from rivers. It is 100% solar-powered, extracts plastic autonomously, and is capable of operating in the majority of the world’s most polluting rivers.
In co-creation with JUR and BIND Film, Dutch Matters produced this event with many outstanding suppliers in an unforgettable cooperation with Broekman Logistics. A challenge it was to produce this within the short time and especially on this particular location in the Port of Rotterdam. The presentation was streamed and resulted in millions views and a live experience for 1000 guests on the location itself.
